Babies can actually absorb language when they are inside the womb during the last 10 weeks of pregnancy. New-borns can actually tell the difference between their mother’s voice and others just hours after they are born.
“The main message for new moms is that their babies are listening and learning and remembering during the last stages of pregnancy.
Their brains do not wait for birth to start absorbing information.
While the baby is developing physically, he or she is becoming an aware, responsive person with feelings. He behaves and looks almost the same as a baby at birth.
The baby may see, close and open his or her eyes in the womb.
His taste buds are forming, and by 28 weeks can respond to sweet, sour and bitter tastes.
At this time your baby can frown, closes and opens his or her mouth, he or she can even turn, kick, and somersaults and makes fists.
Your baby can suck his thumb, and swallow water (amniotic fluid) that surrounds him passing it out of his body as urine. They even get hiccups when they swallow too much water.
The baby is also nourished by the placenta and protected by warm amniotic fluid, which changes over time to regulate your baby’s temperature and protects her against infections.
Your baby at this time can hear your voice and can be woken by loud noise and music. He may prefer some types of music, this you will notice by his movements when he hears that particular music.
Try listening to a particular music most of the time during your last trimester and after your baby is born you will notice that your baby will show in a way he knows that song when he hears it.
Talk to your baby in the womb, have a conversation with him or her call your baby by the names you wish to give them, a strong bond is being formed already at this time, even before they are born.
